Get Referred

Job Description

The Regulatory Exam Lifecycle Management team (“RELM”) in Global Risk and Compliance is hiring for several new US-based Analyst positions.

RELM supports the end-to-end lifecycle of US regulatory exams, ongoing supervision, and remediation of regulatory findings – responsibilities that are central to the safety and soundness of American Express. We partner closely with all parts of the business to support their interactions with regulators during exams and ongoing supervision, with a focus on responses to regulatory requests and walkthroughs. We continue that partnership when regulatory reviews result in the issuance of findings or recommendations, supporting business units as they implement corrective actions. Throughout, our team partners closely with the US Regulatory Relations team within General Counsel’s Organization to focus on preparedness and proactively engage our regulators and internal stakeholders.

RELM is hiring Analysts for the following teams:

Exam Management: Analysts within the Exam Management team support the effective management of the company’s exams and ongoing supervision with US federal and state regulators, including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Analysts are responsible for a variety of exam-related activities, including tracking and delivering responses to regulatory requests, conducting quality reviews of response submissions for adherence to internal standards, and coordinating and scheduling meetings with regulators and internal planning sessions.

Response & Remediation: Analysts within the Response & Remediation team support the process of responding to supervisory letters issued by US federal and state regulators, overseeing organization-wide remediation of regulatory findings, and documenting completion of corrective actions taken in response to those findings. Analysts are also responsible for collecting and storing evidence of remediation and ensuring that the systems of record used to document regulatory findings and their completion are kept up-to-date.

Additionally, Analysts in both roles will contribute to the development and enhancement of RELM strategies, processes, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adept with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple and often conflicting priorities under tight timeframes.
  • Highly collaborative, with ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, sense of follow-through, and accountability.
  • Experience interacting with federal and/or state regulators, including remediating regulatory findings, and/or experience remediating internal findings (e.g., from second or third-line testing) a plus.
  • Project management experience in a controlled and disciplined environment a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree in a related field a plus.
