The Network Solutions & Operations team (NSO) is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and lead.

The Business Intelligence Analytics Team utilizes near real-time Global Network Data to build scalable self-service online reporting tools and customized analytics that Enables Growth, Provides Insight, and Drives Business Strategy across the company and to our Network business Partners.  The technology platform which powers performance analytics for these efforts is The Network Information Center (NIC). The NIC is a dynamic data environment providing best-in-class global self-service reporting products for internal constituents across the Blue Box, It’s the marquee technology “stack” enabling insightful interactive dashboards using sophisticated visualization techniques, and drill-down deep-dive customizable “sandbox” reports.

We are looking for an innovative leader to improve our UI/UX, grow these platform-driven online reporting products delivering on strategies that build new features, functionalities, capabilities, and drive step change enhancements. In this role you will work with key business partners and product owners to understand their needs and define business requirements. You will create Proof-of-Concepts and build prototypes to prove out use cases and collaborate with colleagues to solve critical business issues. You’ll work with a highly collaborative and knowledgeable tech team, using the Safe Agile Product Methodologies to build MIS products that are invaluable to our thousands of users. You will help expand and refine our offering to Partners, and also ensure that the NIC successfully integrates with our continually evolving Network platform.


  • Own, lead and prioritize product backlog in collaboration with your team peers
  • Build, maintain, and clearly communicate your suite of online reporting product’s vision and roadmap including phased iterative Agile launches to partners and leadership
  • Act as Business/Product owner for your suite of online reporting products and deliver on it using Safe Agile Product methodologies in collaboration with technology team
  • Use your creativity combined with your technical acumen to craft self-service reports, dashboards, analytics tools, and User Experience
  • Lead User Support and User Training when required
  • Brainstorm and evaluate potential new (Internal & External) opportunities and improvements leading to crafting and building Proof of Concepts and Prototypes
  • Conduct ad-hoc data analytics and research using the NIC to solve business problems and answer a large and diverse set of questions
  • Work closely and co-create with Network Delivery Team to successfully integrate with NIC and demonstrate new/improved network data into new and existing digital reports

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years working in digital product development (e.g. online tools) with demonstrable experience initiating and driving technical improvements that demonstrate strong business value leveraging Agile/Safe Product Development Methodology
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, training, and communication skills with an acute comfort working with and manipulating data, working with both business and technical groups, and the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to think through all aspects of a situation and generate possible courses of action, with a strong passion for the customer
  • Consistent record of positively collaborating with and influencing partners in a matrixed environment to achieve outcomes without direct responsibility
  • Ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, support multiple workstreams at once, and lead through ambiguity and rapid change
  • Experience in developing and deploying within BI platforms (e.g. Microstrategy, Tableau)
  • The intellectual curiosity to acquire operational knowledge of additional applications and software
  • Subject matter expertise in network authorization & transaction data, processing, and payments preferred
  • Experience with SQL queries and Knowledge of Microstrategy preferred
  • Willingness to travel when/if required (10%)
