One Identity is a more intelligent, contextual and conversational way to authenticate customers that goes beyond usernames and password and allows American Express customers to maximize their memberships by giving them an unprecedented amount of flexibility, security and control over how they access and manage their products and services, either directly or through partner APIs.
Whether it’s personal information that a customer knows, a phone number or email address on file where they can receive a one-time code, validating a passphrase that they’ve memorized, or simply recognizing that they’re on a device that they’ve previously used to interact with us, Amex One Identity knows, based on where a customer is in the world and what they are trying to do, how to best authenticate a customer to maintain their account and information security without getting in their way.
The OpenID platform built in the One Identity aims to support the Amex public APIs and in particular the Open Banking initiatives which has for aim to turn Amex into an open programmatic platform for partners to build financial applications using standards like OpenID FAPI (Financial APIs)in the US or PSD2 in the EU.
