Sales Leader, Business Development (Melbourne based)

Job Description

This position is responsible for all aspects of leading and managing a team of 10 Business Development Executives (BDE’s) to deliver annual BCV/New Accounts Acquired volume targets. The BDE’s are responsible for Small Business Sales to local small businesses in the Small Business Services segment ($500K-10M company turnover). 

The successful candidate will be based in our Melbroune office and will be responsible for individual and team capability development, phone coaching, team pipeline management, forecasting monthly sales declarations and billings and all other activities associated with delivering and exceeding growth targets.

Key deliverables:

  • Lead the sales team to deliver against prospect conversion, new accounts acquired and Booked Charge Volume by driving a high performance team culture through the development and management of training, motivation and performance coaching programs, tracking individual team member performance, identifying performance gaps and developing appropriate performance management strategies

  • Develop and manage sales effectiveness strategies including key performance indicators for pipeline management, lead management practices, self-generation techniques, conversion rates and booked charge volume outcomes.

  • In order to be successful, the individual must be able to demonstrate experience in coaching at all levels of the sales cycle. The successful applicant will have demonstrated ability in achieving outstanding results through others in a phone sales environment.

  • Critical to the success of the individual will be the individual's ability to motivate and engage individual team members to exceed goals.

  • Aggressively manage the sales pipeline ensuring the pipeline is robust and will meet the targets including accurate and timely reporting of the pipeline and prospects in the pipeline.

  • Fully engaging in the Performance Management and Development Planning Process with a clear focus on employee engagement.

  • Align strategies with sales colleagues and share best-in-class practices, to ensure consistency and quality across the Small Business Services Sales (SBS).

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the SBS channel

  • Effectively manage projects and initiatives leveraging stakeholder engagement, cross line of business collaboration, and change management to completion

  • Support the Director of Small Business Acquisition in leading key change management initiatives across SBS and the broader Small Business Acquisition team.

Minimum Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Exceptional leadership experience with a proven ability to drive teams to deliver and exceed KPI’s and sales targets

  • A proven ability to build team and individual capability through effective coaching in a phone sales environment essential

  • A track record of driving change and building a high performing team culture

  • An appreciation for financial statements (financial acumen) 

  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives/plans 

  • Experience in Acquisition and B2B corporate sales
