 Technical Project Managers that join our team will be part of a fast paced, entrepreneurial team responsible for delivering world class internally developed and vendor based solutions.  You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concept to deliver against the existing and future needs of our business partners.  The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for leading the design, development and implementation of applications as required.  The role requires expertise in working with a team of talented engineers, architects and third party vendors to deliver world class capabilities for American Express. 

Minimum Qualifications

This high energy Technical Project Manager must have:

  • 6+ years of Technical Project Management experience.
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of software design with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Coding experience and ability to review code with team members and help drive solutions is preferred.
  • Experience managing Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams to deliver technology solutions that meet customer expectations for timeliness and quality.
  • Experience managing project budgets and reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate across third parties and technical and business product managers.
  • Ability to get industry leading solutions to market efficiently and effectively
  • Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams.
  • Ability to enable business capabilities through innovation.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.

The following skills are preferred but not required. 

  • PMI, Scrum Master, SAFE certification.
  • Experience using Rally agile delivery management platform.
  • Experience with HR technology and industry a plus.
  • Experience with Big Data, Data Governance, Master Data Management.
  • Experience with the integration of 3rd party vendor SaaS/PaaS solutions a plus.
