American Express is looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Software Engineer in the Global Risk Technology (GRT) organization, specifically with the Customer 360 (C360) Platform team. The GRT team develops and handles critical components and platforms for new products being launched to support the next generation of customers across market segments. 

The C360 Platform team provides a holistic view of the customer to the platforms within the company. Our challenge is to modernize our legacy systems, while providing continuous service excellence to our customers. In this role, you will partner with our hardworking team to build and improve C360 platform and migrate CRPS to POA C360 platform. This Senior Engineer will have a passion to build data intensive systems and will partner with the C360 Platform team to change the technology landscape.

The Senior Engineer will have: 

  • Demonstrated ability to architect distributed systems in the context of financial/banking applications that require strong consistency, high availability, and scale. 

  • Strong leadership and communicative skills. In this role, you will partner with the Engineering and Product leadership teams to develop end-to-end solutions to complex, high-impact business initiatives. 

  • Problem solving skills that clearly illustrate and sell ideas while mitigating the risk. 

  • Expertise in the definition and implementation of effective software engineering practices and processes that result in high speed to market: i.e., open-source style project maintainers, PR review process, issue triage, code reviews, code contribution metrics definition, test automation strategy, CI/CD optimization, etc. 

Minimum Qualifications

This hardworking Senior Engineer must have: 

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience. 

  • Experience in object-oriented design, web development, and building REST APIs in Java and micro-services in Vertx. 

  • Experience delivering sophisticated solutions for a high-volume, multi-tiered, distributed web application. 

  • Good understanding of NoSQL databases like Couchbase. 

  • Experience with various architectures: Domain Driven Design, Microservices, Cloud Native and Event Driven Architecture. 

  • Strong working experience in COBOL/DB2/Datapower. 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or other equivalent fields or work experience. 

  • Bonus Points: 

  • Knowledge and Experience in American Express Platforms and Applications will be added advantage. 

  • Strong sense of ownership and a big proponent of DevOps culture. 

  • Experience of leading a team. 

  • Relevant work experience in BDP/ Hive.
