The New Member Acquisition (NMA) team is a fast-paced organization responsible for driving new U.S. Consumer Card Members into the American Express franchise via digital and direct channels. Within NMA, the New Member Acquisition Strategy (NMAS) team works to ideate new and lead on cross-channel strategic initiatives to find and convert high-value prospects into engaged card members.


As the Analyst/Senior Analyst, New Member Acquisition Strategy, your work will be focused on three primary areas: enterprise strategic initiatives, multi-channel strategy, and white space ideation. You will be responsible for helping lead our acquisition strategy with Resy as we build out marketing placements to acquire new card members through this platform. For multi-channel workstreams, you will be charged with supporting product line strategies as the project manager for New Member Acquisition on upcoming product launches and refreshes. White space ideation involves thinking through new prospect acquisition opportunities with Resy and other Blue Box partners, along with general ideas to drive new accounts and improve the consumer experience. This role will allow you to be a generalist and is ideal for a self-starter and growth-oriented person who prioritizes learning and is able to ramp up to quickly to become a subject matter expert on a variety of topics.


The person in this role will have a unique opportunity to be part of a core team responsible for working on projects that touch a variety of key strategic initiatives for NMA and the broader Consumer Marketing Services (and Global Consumer Services Group) team. Recent projects this team has worked on include the refresh and launch of the American Express Green Card, building out card acquisition via new platforms like Resy, ideating and launching a new acquisition landing page for the American Express Gold Card, and developing and executing a cross-channel welcome offer strategy across multiple card products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data, research, competitive intelligence and insights to identify strategic projects for NMA
  • Brainstorm and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders across channels and functions to execute on these strategic initiatives
  • Develop and project-manage go-to-market strategies for enterprise initiatives like product refreshes, portfolio-wide offer launches, and welcome offer tests
  • Own data and results reporting process for assigned projects
  • Support the end-to-end process for launching new welcome offers and marketing placements with Resy, including partnering with our Marketing Enablement Team colleagues and working through claim approval with legal and compliance teams
  • Support Manager/Sr. Manager on strategic projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Self-starter with an ability to navigate the organization and processes independently with an affinity for white space work

  • Demonstrated ability in developing and presenting a holistic strategy 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills – must be able to prioritize, manage multiple projects at once, work under tight deadlines, and drive results

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with attention to detail

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to inform business decisions

  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to collaborate and work effectively across multiple cross-functional partners

  • Strong customer focus, including a passion for driving a premium experience for customers

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
