Job Description

Inspect the facility infrastructure systems and components to ensure that they are secure, verifiable, reliable and are operating at peak efficiency. Adjust infrastructure system and or component operating parameters as required to maintain uninterrupted operation. Ensure “world class” appearance is maintained in all areas, at all times. Prioritize operations, maintenance, and project activities. Assign tasks as required to appropriate personnel to ensure the highest level of functionality and cost-efficiency while ensuring adherence to all government regulations and applicable codes. Monitor personnel performance during m/e system operations, maintenance and repair activities. Provide documented performance feedback to Director DCI – Operations & Building Services to ensure appropriate skill levels and behaviors are being maintained in their absence. Keep management abreast of all key activities through use of status reports and presentations. Review all required shift operations documents for accuracy and completeness. Ensure information is clearly detailed and legible, (e.g. log book entries, daily activity reports, equipment logs, field reports, etc.) Conduct detailed and effective information exchange meetings to ensure relieving shift personnel have accurate and viable information about the condition, configuration, and current activities within the facility. Conduct weekly safety discussions to ensure personnel maintain a high level of safety awareness. Respond and direct operations personnel during equipment failures and infrastructure event conditions. Stabilize the condition and escalate information as soon as practical to appropriate leadership and or support personnel. Be cognizant of the DCI business recovery plan procedures, requirements, and tasks. Implement plan requirements in the absence of the business resumption team leader. Provide on-the-job training and orientation to new employees as required. Coach and mentor operations personnel to share learned knowledge and skill to increase operations depth. Enforce compliance of facility access, raised floor installation standards, policies and procedures. Recommend new standards wherever necessary to ensure operational excellence. Be cognizant of the inventory levels for various parts, equipment, and consumables. Communicate short falls as soon as known to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained. Qualifications

Three (3) or more years of experience in electrical and mechanical plant operations inside a Tier 4 data center or equivalent to gain conceptual knowledge of the interaction between multiple large systems and the potential impact of even minor changes to any of those systems. Three (3) or more years experience in large data center operations environment or equivalent in order to conceptualize the critical and complex association with technologies facilities. In-depth operational knowledge of multiple large systems: Engine generators and paralleling switchgear, Centrifugal chillers and chilled water production, UPS systems and batteries, Complex electrical distribution systems including 12.47kV, 575V, 480V switchgear, DC distribution systems, static and automatic transfer switches and schemes, Building automation and monitoring systems, Underground storage facilities for diesel systems and above ground storage for water systems. Successful completion of operator and advanced operator written certification test, hands-on equipment operator certification tests and any annual re-certification requirements necessary to advance or maintain this level of competency. Effective oral, written and presentation communications skills to permit the effective exchange of information and business plans.  American Express is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other status protected by law.
