Global Business Consulting is a team within American Express’ Global Commercial Services Group. We are a value add service designed to help our clients gain control and improve efficiency of their travel & expense and procure-to-pay programs, to ultimately improve their competitive position in the marketplace. Our solutions are focused in three (3) areas: strategy & management; behaviour change; and process optimization.
Global Business Consulting leverages a powerful mix of data analytics and proprietary tools to bring insights designed to help clients achieve their best operations. Our team works across American Express’ large market and global client base to create programs that are scalable, easy to implement, and tailored specifically to the individual needs of our clients.
Clients count on our solutions to gain control and streamline operations; reduce inflationary costs and increase savings; and position their program for the future of payments.
•Partner with Acquisition and Account Development teams within GCG and Large Market to provide differentiated value through the delivery of consulting engagements, thought leadership and best practice recommendations to drive best-in-class program maturity and help our clients achieve their goals.
•Lead the delivery of “best-in-class” service and analytical capabilities across Global Business Consulting including the use of new methods, techniques, tools and systems and ensure proper configuration management, change controls and adherence to operating methodology.
•Proactively manage a portfolio of opportunities, clients and key contacts to ensure that projects stay on track, within scope and meet client needs throughout the delivery process.
•Participate in and/or lead internal initiatives that help to grow our business, expand our service offerings, bring our clients improved insights, and/or drive efficiencies.
•Develop and maintain strong relationships across multiple internal customer groups and a range of leadership levels and prepare deliver high quality client presentations, internal executive updates, consulting case studies and field enablement materials to showcase and leverage success.
•Lead and contribute to thought leadership projects such as benchmarking studies, white papers, client forums and best practice sharing sessions.
•Create and manage project plans, ensure that project timelines are met and that work is done within the allotted hours/cost.
•Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members.
•Operate in and contribute to a team-oriented environment with strong personal accountability, commitment and integrity with respect to all aspects of the role.
•Lead project teams, including one analyst in Japan, to deliver on-time, value added client projects to drive growth for GCP.
Offer of employement with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
•Previous experience overseeing projects end-to-end; and able to manage and prioritize multiple project assignments while adhering to strict project timelines and budgeted hours.
•Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and manage internal/external relationships, and to identify and proactively recommend solutions that focus upon client needs.
•Experience leading direct reports and project teams on new assignments/opportunities with ambiguity in approach or outcome.
•Strong probing and presentation skills with the ability to uncover/diagnose clients’ needs and propose solutions leveraging consulting service offerings.
•Structured approach to problem solving with experience in leading client focused projects and engagements.
•Strong analytical skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
•Outstanding presentation and client facing acumen from proposal development to engagement delivery; able to leverage Microsoft PowerPoint/Word to deliver high quality presentations
Outstanding team player who can rapidly ramp-up, and be nimble with a client partnership mindset to quickly form productive and positive working relationships, interacting effectively with colleagues and the ability to develop interpersonal professional relationships
•Experience in management consulting, account management, knowledge of sourcing, travel industries, procurement or process management.
•Previous experience working across other key markets in JAPA (Japan, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Thailand and New Zealand)
•Business level of English and Japanese, both written and verbal
This role will be based in Tokyo.
