Job Description

Commercial Payments Gateway (CPG) is a Global Product Development function within the GCS (Global Commercial Services) organization, focusing on driving the development of a single distribution and integration platform for all B2B (Business to Business) services.
Leveraging AXP platforms as well as industry-leading Fintech capabilities, the team is developing an API catalog offering a suite of payments & value added services, connecting B2B trade, data, and financial services in a single digital environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Digital Product/Project manager to join the dynamic world of CPG and facilitate its product and project delivery.
Based in New York, this role will provide focused, end to end project management to meet the business demand across the CPG Product development lifecycle, as well as oversight of all dependencies both upstream and down, such as contracting and client implementation. All initiatives are complex in nature and will require alignment and liaison with internal/external partners across the blue box in order to develop and track robust plans, dependencies and effective risk management.
Given the nature of the role, the successful applicant will need to operate at multiple levels across the organisation, and have the ability to work at varying degrees of detail.  The manager should be prepared to challenge the status quo and work collaboratively with multiple teams across the organization, both within and outside of Product, in order to deliver the desired target and results.
This is a challenging role and is a great opportunity for someone to build on their already solid project management skillset, while having fun.  (Especially the fun side)
Key responsibilities are:
  • Co-ordinating a complex, cross functional group to agree milestones, dependencies and blockers to success
  • Work closely with the Release Train Engineering function and align plans to the overall Release Management process
  • Work with the teams to agree an Agile approach to development
  • Collaborate with CX, product design and platform development teams
  • Lead the planning and coordination of strategic programs from initiation to implementation.
  • Crisp, relevant project plan creation and communication
  • Identify and drive consensus on dependencies and impact to overall timeframes
  • Create forums for updates/discussions relevant to project needs to ensure effective cross pollination of information and force decision making at all levels
  • Detailed understanding of prioritized features and user stories to meet MVP, and support prioritisation as appropriate
  • Lead a robust communication strategy throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Track project costs and report as needed
  • Contributor to continual process improvement and reengineering activities.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ year Project/Product implementation experience in a digital team
  • Experience in product development methodologies such as Agile
  • Technical aptitude is beneficial given the role straddles product and technology
  • Very strong relationship management skills with the ability to communicate clearly (in verbal & written form)
  • A highly motivated self-starter, who can work independently
  • Desire to advance Agile maturity across the Product function

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
