Job Description

The Treasury department is responsible for managing American Express’ cash flow ensuring borrowing is minimized and investible funds are maximized. The team ensures AXP has the right amount of money, at the right time, in the right place, in the appropriate currency to fulfill its financial obligations when they become due. The team is also responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of the cash flow processes to achieve business partner objectives.
In this role the Analyst will:
• Manage and forecast various daily legal entity CAD/USD cash flows to maximize available cash for investing
• Invest excess cash positions
• Execute daily funds transfers on a timely basis
• Produce a variety of daily monthly and quarterly treasury activity reporting and tracking
• Manage daily balance and transaction reports for all bank account activity using various proprietary bank and treasury software
• Work with banks and business partners in order to resolve any cash management related issues
• Manage and administer standard wire settlement procedures and setups for corporate payroll source deductions and tax remittances
• Provide value-added departmental support to peer and management positions
• Act as primary backup to Senior Treasury Analyst position
• Special projects as assigned
• Maintain and update desk operating procedures and support business continuation plans
• Support continued development of Treasury Workstation (TMS)
• Support regulatory (CDIC, OSFI) and audit (external, internal corporate audit) reviews


•University degree in business/commerce/economics/accounting or related
•Industry Courses e.g. Canadian Securities Course preferred
•Treasury/Cash Management experience preferred 
•Strong Understanding of Canadian banking environment and industry practices
•Excellent Excel skills
•Knowledge of Automated treasury workstation preferred
•Strong analytical, decision-making, and follow-up skills.
•Attention to detail, quality oriented, process improvement focused
•Ability to work under pressure in a multitask, time sensitive, and deadline oriented environment
•Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment
•Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills
