Travel & Lifestyle Services (TLS) provides expert advice and servicing in all aspects of Travel and Lifestyle to some of American Express’ elite card holders. Our dedicated teams of consultants are on hand 24 hours a day to support our Centurion & Platinum customers with everything from a romantic meal for two to booking a ‘round the world’ anniversary trip.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development and quality of immersive and experiential learning programs for American Express TLS. They will partner with other Learning professionals and Business Partners in delivering a globally consistent training experience that directly impacts the success of American Express and our internal and external clients.

Key responsibilities include:


·        Work with subject experts to identify target audience training needs and recommend the most appropriate learning solution

·        Agree performance objectives and create content that matches them

·        Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product

·        Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts

·        Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods

·        Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process

·        Provide direction, guidance and support to Learning Delivery Performance Specialists to ensure consistent communication and execution of learning programs across global markets as appropriate

·        Partner across global learning teams to ensure content adheres to adult learning principles as well as brand and quality standards and market specific nuances

·        Build e-learning modules in the Articulate Storyline and Captivate authoring tools

·        Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)

·        Effectively facilitate, co-facilitate and participate in various learning arenas such as live classroom, virtual classroom, discussion forums and/or blended approaches including delivery of train-the-trainer sessions

Candidate requirements
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in the design and development of e-learning

- Ability to work in a team environment to design, develop and build blended learning experiences

- Design learning that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learner, including the demonstrated understanding of cultural differences that may apply

- Demonstrate thought leadership and the ability to drive innovation

- Extensive experience in instructional design application with the ability to convert strategies to effective and engaging learning experiences

- Proven e-learning Design and Development experience and experience designing, developing and delivering emerging learning solutions including game-based learning, simulations and immersive scenarios requiring multiple branching elements strongly preferred

- Proven experience as an Instructional Designer in a corporate and preferably financial services area

- Strong proficiency with industry standard e-learning software: Articulate Storyline and Captivate. These software skills MUST have been used in a recent position. Candidates must be able to show examples of their work using these tools.

- Excellent analytical skills, experience with using learning management systems (LMSs) to drive the delivery of training solutions


Essential skills:
- Instructional design
- Copy writing and editing
- Experienced in using authoring tools: Articulate Storyline and Captivate
- Fluent in Japanese and highly proficient in spoken and written English
Classroom training design using MS PowerPoint
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Products including Word, PowerPoint and Excel essential

Desirable skills: 

- Visual design skills using Photoshop and Illustrator strongly preferred

- Experience with gaming, video or other emerging software preferred

- A  degree or certification in Performance Technology, Instructional Design, Adult Learning or Teaching preferred

- Minimum of 5 years of on-the-job application is desired
