Job Description

This position is in the Enterprise Data Governance Office (EDGO) within the ED&A organization. EDGO is accountable for the successful execution of the established Enterprise Data Governance (DG) program. EDGO provides guidance and standards to which in-scope initiatives must align. EDGO provides enterprise-wide support on a variety of Data Governance areas including Policy & Procedures, Accountability, Data Optimization, and Data Quality. 
This position directly supports Data Quality issues that require Data Quality Issues Management DQIM) remediation. The person in this role will work across business units and band levels to identify, track, remediate and document DQIM issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and optimize process and tools supporting Data Quality Issue Management and Data Quality measurement
  • Track and drive closure of Data Quality Issues reported to the Enterprise Data Governance team, and publish weekly Dashboard/Metrics
  • Work closely with business partners to identify, track, and remediate DQ issues across multiple initiatives
  • Ensure DQIM issues are worked in a timely manner, in full compliance with governance requirements
  • Execute business data quality analyses of key Finance and Risk data; assess data against dimensions of quality (i.e., completeness, accuracy, validity, uniqueness, consistency) in support of the overall Governance program
  • Collaborate with business and technologies teams to understand business needs and facilitate issue resolution, ensure complete audit trail and documentation and facilitate recurring meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deliverables and deadlines
  • Provide business insight to improve / enhance Collibra DQIM tool
  • Represent DQIM as a business process subject matter expert for the Data Governance program.
  • Ensure adherence to project standards and governance models and applying consistent project delivery methodologies and standards.
  • Identify risk in the process and implement effective corrective measures with a sense of urgency
  • Flexible to work across time zones and geographies

  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree with relevant experience in related field preferred
  • Prior experience in data governance, compliance, operational risk, issue management, project management, audit or related functions would be a plus
  • Experience with American Express or similar financial company data / data management
  • Excellence / proficiency with MS Office products such as advanced Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint is a must
  • Experience with Collibra, Tableau, SQL and Cornerstone a plus
  • Demonstrated business and data analysis skills, especially in project management, statistics, data analysis
  • Knowledge of key data concepts within American Express or similar industry
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills along with proven decision-making and risk management abilities
  • Organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Possess and demonstrate ability to prioritize, action multiple deliverables, and respond under pressure with competing priorities
  • Possess strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, ability to influence various levels of management in Lines of Business  (LOB’s) and business groups
  • Personally ensures the delivery of high quality service and consistently exceeds customers’ expectations
