Job Description

This critical role within Risk Management will be a part of the Global Retail New Accounts Underwriting team. The incumbent will work in a highly-dynamic and exciting environment and will have the opportunity to shape underwriting strategies and policies for New Accounts Underwriting for both prospects and customers, across both card and non-card products. S/he will play an influential role working closely with partners in Marketing, Finance, World Service, Global Credit Administration (GCA), Legal/Compliance, and Technologies to create best-in-class capabilities and procedures with no operational risk.
               
Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and execute global underwriting strategies to drive the business through the approval of profitable applicants
  • Manage risk thresholds across the new accounts decision through quantitative analysis
  • Continually enhance underwriting decisions by incorporating new data sources and new capabilities
  • Partner with teams across the business and Risk to leverage best practices and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the new accounts journey

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the competencies to lead and conduct analyses
  • Ability to handle large datasets using SAS, SQL or other programming knowledge
  • Credit Risk Management experience with an in-depth understanding of the end-to-end credit lifecycle, as well as an in-depth understanding of credit metrics and processes, and P&L drivers.  Experience in the commercial lending industry a plus.
  • Superior thought leadership, analytical, and project management skills with demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to think strategically and apply both quantitative methods and business acumen to drive results
  • Proven ability and self-sufficiency to translate analytical results into business strategies
  • High quality written and oral communication skills with the ability to synthesize key points and influence business decisions
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Statistics, Economics; MBA preferred
