Job Description

Global Credit and Fraud Network (GCFN) is at the center of some of American Express’ most important priorities – increasing revenue, protecting our assets and preparing for an inevitable economic downturn, whenever it may come. With a Customer First focus, our credit strategies have an important impact on the customer’s ability to borrow quickly, repay easily, and maintain a long relationship with American Express.

Within GCFN, the Global Commercial Credit Integration (GCCI) team is responsible for creating and executing credit strategies for Global Commercial Payments customers, from small business owners to large corporate clients. The team works closely with partners in Risk, Compliance, Product Development, and many others to seamlessly integrate new products and enhance existing capabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities and managing strategic and analytical projects from formation through implementation. Key initiatives will be aimed at reducing friction in serving the customer and improving operations effectiveness, particularly in the area of commercial underwriting. Success in this role will require an ability to: analyze operational metrics; identify opportunities for improvement; build and leverage relationships to gain support; manage an implementation timeline; and review results to measure benefits.

Responsibilities Include
  • Manage multiple workstreams on diverse projects with varying timelines and complexity
  • Collaborate with commercial collections organization, commercial product business owners, risk management and capabilities teams to ensure seamless implementation for new products and changes to existing products
  • Analyze and review current underwriting, credit, and collections processes,  and recommend improvements
  • Provide tactical support to design/revise processes in compliance with regulatory requirements, auditor findings, or operational risk event remediation
  • Provide strategic support for developing an action plan to be executed in the next economic downturn
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners to deliver on operational metrics, customer experience, and compliance mandates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, MIS or other related field

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully drive results for multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Must be an outstanding analytical thinker and problem solver, comfortable working with data and able to resolve complex problems independently
  • Experience in the evaluation, analysis and optimization of operational processes
  • Proven ability to build collaborative and trusting relationships
  • Superior thought leadership
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to effectively manage ambiguity and lead others in a dynamic environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior leaders
