Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key contributing member of the Global Total Rewards & Medical (GTRM) Organization within Human Resources. This role will report to the Vice President of Global Compensation Incentive Compensation Effectiveness (ICE) Center of Excellence (COE) and is responsible for partnering with the Global Services Group (GSG) on strategic and tactical compensation initiatives for Call Center incentive compensation plans. 

In general, the Director is responsible for representing Global Compensation on Call Center incentive plans for the GSG business.  This is a fast paced, high pressure environment and flawless execution is expected. The Director is expected to provide leadership and drive engagement on the Global Compensation Team.
  • Represent Global Compensation on GSG Call Center compensation design and governance issues
  • Partner with GSG on strategic and tactical compensation initiatives for Call Centers and other servicing roles. 
  • Provide internal and external market analysis and perspectives on incentive plans, and provide an enterprise-view. This includes leading survey work to gain insight and provide customized incentive compensation solutions designed to support business strategies
  • Ensure consistency of incentive plans with other Lines of Business where appropriate
  • Partner with Global Compensation and Market Compensation and Benefit Teams as appropriate
  • Set the agenda for GSG BU Compensation Committee Meetings
  • Provide Blue Box perspective on GSG Call Center compensation initiatives
    • Lead certain enterprise wide compensation initiatives on behalf of GSG, for Call Center related initiatives.  For example: review of technology platforms, improvements in comp processing, best practices from other businesses and help apply to GSG
  • Lead incentive compensation analytics (for Call Center roles)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience, exposure to a broad range of compensation practices and an undergraduate degree is required
  • Experience designing and governing compensation programs, with a focus on sales incentive plans
  • Self-starter attitude with ability to learn quickly and work independently in an ambiguous environment
  • Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible in a collaborative work environment
  • Strong time management with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to include experience making presentations to all levels of management  
  • Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to develop talent
  • Proven decision making, analytical and problem solving capabilities with strong follow up skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated project management, organization and planning skills applied in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Experience of HR processes and disciplines and/or familiarity with American Express business groups preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office products (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to deal with issues and subject matter in ways that sometimes requires considerable sensitivity, discretion and judgment
