Job Description

The American Express New Account Fraud team is seeking a talented problem solver to mitigate fraud risk of new applications for all American Express products globally while providing an amazing application and customer experience. The work of this individual has direct impact on American Express financial performance.

The work mix as well as the team’s leadership style foster growth in thinking and empowers autonomy and personal development.

Responsibilities:
  • Owning new capabilities that enable better fraud risk decisioning
  • Onboarding new data from 3rd party vendors to provide more insight on the applications or spending
  • Utilizing Amex’s state of the art machine learning decision tree algorithm to formulate controls to combat fraud during application & spending
  • Devising operational procedures that provide the best customer experience and minimize fraud loss

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Math, Economics, Industrial Engineering, etc
  • Fluent in SQL / SAS, Hive, etc
  • Fluent in batch processing methods, such as macro
  • Can-do attitude
  • Open-minded
  • Think before doing
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advance degree in a quantitative field
  • Ability to learn independently with no support
  • Fluent in Python or R
  • Innovative thinker
  • Looking to improve thinking
  • At least 3 year analytical experience in a large company
