The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) organization has a mission to create marketplace demand and drive affinity for the American Express brand through differentiated and innovative products, partnerships, marketing and customer experiences. The Global Media, OnBrand and Experiences (GMOE) team within GABM is responsible for bringing our brand strategy and platform to life via media, experiential marketing, creative development and sponsorships. A major part of this effort is our in-house creative agency, OnBrand. The goal of OnBrand is to provide quick to market, effective and best-in-class creative design concepts and global marketing campaigns for the entire company.
 
We are looking for a Business and Account Management Director to lead a team of account managers in selling in, delivering on and managing OnBrand’s creative services and managing the structure and business side of the agency.  OnBrand is looking for someone who is passionate, has a strong design aesthetic combined with superior account management skills, and can effectively articulate why an on-brand communications strategy ensures a stronger American Express brand worldwide. The ideal candidate will have large brand account experience from managing client budgets and exceeding their marketing goals
 
He/she will work closely with the Creative Director to ensure the delivery of the highest quality and on-brand marketing communications. He/she will oversee the account team and personally manage critical client accounts and projects. In addition, he/she will lead client relationships with an eye to growing revenues for the group in partnership with OnBrand’s senior leadership.
 
He/she will concentrate on day-to-day requirements of account management, workflow and its budgeting requirements while remaining focused on the broader strategic vision of both the brand and the business. When a project comes in to the pipeline, he/she is the first stop to a successful client and agency relationship. As such, their creative and production colleagues rely on him/her to confirm project requirements, prioritize deliverables, manage the creative process and monitor the team structure to maintain schedules and expectations in a fast-paced work environment.
 
Key responsibilities;
  • Optimizing the workflow processes to better meet high-volume and high-quality demands
  • Growing OnBrand’s volume of work to help drive AXP cost efficiency – including identifying new revenue opportunities with existing clients as well as new areas for business
  • Managing the P&L; controlling budget and pricing structure and innovating systems and methods to deliver efficiencies
  • Quickly identifying key issues facing a client and recommending approaches and solutions
  • Working with Creative Director to ensure the creative team is delivering on the SOW
  • Serving as a visible and SME presence with clients and senior management
  • Providing clear and concise communications to OnBrand team members to help drive superior performance, accuracy and profitability
  • Presenting OnBrand’s commitment and mission throughout the company
  • Monitoring and reporting of OnBrand’s performance and metrics to senior management

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of client-service experience either in a marketing/design agency or in-house creative agency environment.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills are essential. The individual must have the ability to drive results in a high-matrix corporate environment.
  • Flexible to evolving responsibilities and last-minute client changes that require attention-to-detail and must-do attitude.
  • Strong financial acumen to ensure budget requirements are set, monitored and achieved.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills are essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, along with the ability to present to clients and partners, and ability to guide, influence and motivate them to a common goal.
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
