Job Description

This role will lead/support E2E payroll processes, including payroll transaction processing, reconciliation, reporting, tax and other statutory obligations/payments. Support payroll issue resolution and support ad-hoc projects and compliance activities related to payroll tax. May collaborate extensively with external payroll vendors, internal project teams or regional/global payroll teams. Act as Tier 2 support for customer servicing addressing complex queries.
  • Responsible for all aspects of payroll tax payments/filing returns including ensuring transactions are in compliance with federal and state laws, internal payroll policies and practices, applying for withholding/SUI account numbers, and powers of attorney
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of payroll tax calculation rules, payroll tax reporting and tax form filing, for federal/state/local payroll withholding and unemployment taxes
  • Audit and maintain payroll tax records in compliance with established standards.
  • Responds to general correspondence on unemployment benefit/claims
  • Comprehensive understanding and maintenance of process documentation; SLA and policies adherence
  • Support payroll challenges solution by challenging status quo, execute process improvements
  • Ensures all employee and payroll information is kept confidential
  • Act as Tier 2 support for customer servicing addressing complex employee queries
  • Position will also cross train for other payroll processing support activities

Qualifications

  • Understanding of federal, state, and multi-state payroll tax laws, processes and policies
  • Ability to complete federal/state/local tax filing forms, power of attorney, and account number applications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Payroll tax experience required
  • Working knowledge of the employer side of unemployment benefit claims process preferred
  • Coordinate with Payroll resources across a market strongly desired
  • Strong analytical, problem solving , control and customer servicing skills desired
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Knowledge of People Soft, Ceridian Dayforce preferred
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and effectively drive results
  • May require flexibility to work with global teams across various time-zones
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast moving and rapidly changing matrix environment
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
