Right now we have a fantastic opportunity to be part of our highly motivated and innovative Credit Risk Management team responsible for all credit risk, underwriting and customer management strategies for the consumer and commercial businesses in international markets.

 

This newly created and exciting position will require you to design best-in-class risk capabilities and data products using intelligence from cardmembers remittances which would help transform the American Express credit decisions internationally.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Closely partnering with the American Express payments technology teams and our clearing banks across international geographies to improve the infrastructure to facilitate frictionless payments and faster remittance recognition in our risk systems.
  • Develop new data intelligence using the information provided by clearing banks and payment processors for credit risk assessment and underwriting.
  • Improve speed of return payments, and significantly enhance our credit risk models that help identify potential return payments.
  • Partner closely with digital servicing teams to launch credit digital strategies to improve collection of outstanding or failed payments from cardmembers.
  • Establishing strong partnership with various market Chief Credit Officers, and Risk Centre of Excellence teams across various geographies to successfully drive the business outcomes in the regions.
 

The role will be based from our vibrant UK HQ in London and we are open to relocation to the UK for overseas candidates wishing to join this team.

Qualifications


Required skills:


  • Strong analytical experience in a financial services organization or in a payments related function.   
  • Knowledge of payments flows between banking institutions would be beneficial.
  • Master's Degree or higher in quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics) or MBA with quantitative background required
  • Strong programming skills (SAS/SQL) and experience with Big Data programming languages such as HIVE, PIG, PYTHON.
  • Good communication and persuasion skills with an ability to translate technical analysis into business insights and recommendations, conceptualize and sell ideas to internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with capabilities, decision sciences, technology teams and external vendors to deliver solutions at top speed
