Overview of The Department: This exciting Technical Project Manager position will be part of the transformation journey supporting GCS (Global Commercial Services) Data Engineering organization, within American Express Technologies (AET). This Commercial Analytics and Insights Capabilities team is fully focused on unleashing the power of commercial data to drive and maximize the spend with our commercial clients via its analytics platform. 


In this role, you will be responsible for managing highly complex delivery consisting of multiple products, as well as planning, and coordinating large strategic programs from initiation through to implementation. You will partner with cross-functional Product teams, Business Owners and Engineering teams to determine and interpret objectives into solutions and requirements, drive processes and execution, escalate impediments, manage risk, and promote continuous improvement. You will also be responsible to participate program/ release level events such as Program Increment planning, inspect and adapt, and Scrum of Scrums.

  • As the TPM, drive development and delivery of Technical products and solutions for our customers.
  • Coordinate with product, business, technical, and other stakeholders to prioritize, plan, and execute development schedules in-line with product development initiatives and regulatory needs.
  • Use technical acumen to provide design alternatives and support team in technical issue resolution.
  • Manage and track team velocity, financials, and other KPIs in relation to the project/program and its plan.
  • Provide visibility into gaps, issues, risks and opportunities across scrum teams, solving and where needed escalating impediments.
  • Drive program, release level and enterprise improvement and standardization activities using SAFe as the primary framework.
  • Opportunity to provide in-house informal Agile coaching to our product and business teams.





  • 4-6+ years of Technical Project Management experience.
  • Experience with implementation and execution of Scrum and Agile practices to deliver Technology solutions.
  • 3 years of experience with software design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of software design, with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience managing Agile, Scrum or other rapid application development teams to deliver technology solutions that meet customer expectations for timeliness and quality. Includes methods such as Lean, XP, Kanban, Scrum, and scaling methods such as SAFe.
  • Penchant for creating new projects and executing them from conception to creating business impact through cutting edge research in relevant areas.
  • Success by showing creativity to go beyond current tools to deliver the best solution to the problem.
  • Ability and comfort with working independently and making key decisions on projects.
  • Ability to view the end-to-end process and understand downstream, upstream effects of implementing change and plan appropriately to compensate and/or overcome this when necessary.
  • Proven ability to manage change in dynamic, ambiguous environment and ability to influence without direct authority among peers and with leaders.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate across third parties and technical and business product managers.
  • Ability to get industry-leading solutions to market efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity / under-defined problems, advocating for simplification and influencing teams.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software.
  • Experience managing project budgets and reporting.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering or other Technical discipline.


  • SAFe and Scrum Master Certification.
  • Experience using Atlassian and/or Rally agile delivery management platforms.
