The Global Commercial Services US Small & Mid Sized Enterprise Segment is focused on driving growth with Small & Mid Sized Enterprises. A key strategic priority is identifying and working with strategic partners that help us reach the right commercial audiences (prospects & customers) and bring them the right commercial benefits, value and experience.


The Manager / Senior Manager Strategic Partnership Development will play a critical role in the future of our SME business by developing and executing the partnership co marketing strategy that demonstrates The Powerful Backing of American Express.

What you will be doing:
  • Developing the SME Segment partnership strategy based on insights, in market results and learnings
  • Building a pipeline of high potential partners that drive the strategy: identifying and cultivating partnerships with like-minded, innovative B2B brands and services to deliver incremental opportunities to both brands. Current partners include companies like: Google and ZipRecruiter
  • Developing the cost benefit analyses that demonstrate business and strategic value of the partnerships
  • Presenting to senior leadership compelling cases for why the partnership makes sense, how it can drive value, and offer incremental conversion opportunities
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to launch, monitor, report on, and evolve partnership initiatives and the partner relationships
  • Negotiating mutually agreeable terms for partnership
  • Developing repeatable, efficient approaches to operationalizing partnerships

  • You can build something from nothing: These partnerships will all be new (what you find) or nascent. We are looking for someone who can bring a concept to market with limited resources to prove it works
  • Are energized by delivering results.  You’re results-oriented and can use numbers to develop marketing plans that will help us meet or exceed our goals.
  • You are an influencer and a collaborator who can motivate and mobilize cross-functional teams and drive results in a fluid environment
  • You are a strategic thinker who is comfortable with white space projects and thinks about how we can stay at the forefront of those trends to drive business results and innovation
  • You pay attention to the details and always ensure that no balls are dropped in an environment with a lot of complex information and processes
  • You can work independently and create your own direction and work plans
  • You are comfortable engaging with senior leadership and are quick on your feet
  • You have great project management skills and can effectively manage and execute multiple initiatives and work streams simultaneously
  • 5 - 7 years Business Development and/ or Partner Marketing experience; B2B focus is a plus
 Educational Requirement:
  • Bachelor Degree required; Higher Level Degree preferred
