Manager / Sr Manager - Product Development

The Global Consumer Lending Team is focused on developing innovative products, capabilities and partnerships for American Express to help transform experiences and grow our fair share of lend both on and off cards across International markets. In this role, you will roll up your sleeves and work collaboratively with business owners, engineers, designers and other cross-functional partners to create and launch impactful products.
The Manager / Sr Manager Product Development will be responsible for the end-to-end execution and management of critical workstreams. This person will drive the product development and / or market enablement process, including clearly defining and owning the customer experience, partnering closely with extensive cross-functional teams and working with technology teams to launch capabilities in various international markets.
Responsibilities include:
  • Develop global features and capabilities that generate high customer value, deliver against business goals that are deployed Internationally
  • Work with central and local market cross-functional teams to ensure capabilities meet market needs and adhere to local regulatory, compliance and risk requirements
  • Integrate customer research, usability studies and market analysis into actionable product requirements
  • Shepard products through development, testing and launch, advocating to achieve the best outcomes
  • Identifying and articulating the key customer experience choices, key considerations & solutions that eliminate pain points, solve unmet customer needs and adhere to Amex standards of operational excellence
  • Translating the customer experiences into Epics, Features and User Stories, following Agile methodology
  • Create and maintain product and feature backlogs

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3-5 years’ experience in product development. Prior experience in lending, financial services or hi-tech domains preferred
  • Experience working with internal and external partners to ideate and define business features and user stories in Rally or a similar tool; prioritizing features based on business / customer value and feasibility, conducting product owner test validations
  • Previous experience in an Agile or Scaled Agile Product Development environment is a plus
  • Ability to manage technical and communication complexity in large multi-workstream initiatives
  • Curiosity and hunger to know how things work and ability to use that knowledge to make connections and find pragmatic solutions
  • Highly organized, taking individual initiative and accountability for getting results
