American Express Personal Savings is an online direct bank that offers FDIC-insured High-Yield Savings Accounts and Certificates of Deposit directly to consumers. The business, which was launched in mid-2009, has rapidly grown to almost $40BN of direct deposits, and remains a critical component of American Express’ strategy to develop stable, diversified sources of funding for the company’s businesses. The Personal Savings Marketing team oversees all brand, acquisition, and loyalty marketing across multiple channels, including paid and organic search, display, paid social, affiliate and email.
The Senior Manager will own end-to-end channel management—including marketing strategy, data/targeting strategy, partner management, and internal and partner capability development—for paid search, organic search, display media and paid social .These channels are crucial components of Personal Savings’ brand and acquisition marketing programs, driving a significant portion of brand awareness and new applications annually. The Senior Manager will create a vision, strategy, and plan for and launch of all of the associated tactics to deliver increased brand awareness and acquisition for Personal Savings. This includes developing and evolving ad copy and creative, targeting and bidding strategy, and tracking and measurement capabilities to enable channel growth, investment efficiency, and measurement accuracy. The Senior Manager will manage one direct report and will serve as a primary relationship lead to both our agency and strategic media partners.
This is a strategic, dynamic role with a ton of autonomy that will enable the Senior Manager to advance her/his professional development across a broad set of knowledge areas including but not limited to: digital marketing, digital data and capabilities, management of strategic external and internal partnerships, and quantitative and qualitative decision making.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead display, paid search, organic search and paid social channel strategy and execution, meeting or exceeding brand and acquisition goals while ensuring a seamless prospect experience.
  • Manage relationships with agencies and key media partners including Google, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on strategy and tactics to drive business priorities.
  • Evolve media strategy to drive greater scale and efficiency, identifying opportunities to test new partners, platforms, and technologies.
  • Oversee development and testing of channel creative assets, including video, native units, high impacts, banners, ad copy, and landing pages.
  • Advance use of digital data for audience identification, targeting, and bid decisioning; partner with Information Management, agency, and external vendors to enable new data-driven solutions and integrations.
  • Partner with key internal teams, including Customer Experience, Legal, Compliance, and Privacy, to deliver seamless prospect experience while meeting all regulatory requirements.


  • At least four years of prior digital marketing experience required; direct experience working at an agency or ad tech platform is a strong plus
  • A self-starter who is able to concurrently work on several complex projects and prioritize work; excellent project management and communication skills required
  • Highly strategic, analytical thinker with proven ability to identify new opportunities, translate ideas into actions, and drive results
  • Strong relationship-builder with proven ability to influence stakeholder groups including internal business partners and external agencies and vendors
  • Fast learner with interest in understanding underlying digital technologies and a passion for innovation
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
