American Express entered the travel agency business in 1915 and today is one of the world’s largest luxury travel and lifestyle services networks.  The Travel & Lifestyle Services (TLS) business provides easy access and extraordinary service for Card Members seeking leisure or business travel, as well as a variety of lifestyle services.
TLS has a great opportunity to continue to drive operational excellence globally and share best practices across markets. To enable this, TLS created a central team to ensure TLS processes meet/exceed compliance and operational risk requirements. Global Operational Excellence is an exciting team within TLS that is focused on identifying opportunities and mitigating risks associated with the TLS business globally.
The Analyst, Global Operational Excellence will support key partners in Compliance, GCO, Operational Risk, and the TLS business to meet compliance and regulatory requirements. This person will work on internal work streams including Operational Risk requirements and supporting the Annual Compliance Plan execution. This role will report into the Manager, Global Operational Excellence.
The role will be responsible for the following key deliverables:
  • Support annual compliance goals and key metrics including the UDAAP Program, Global Anti-corruption, Compliance Risk Assessment, and Consumer Practices
  • Develop key process improvements and reporting solutions to address identified gaps
  • Support internal audits and review requests
  • Support implementation of Compliance policies and procedures 
  • Drive awareness of regulatory requirements across all levels of management


The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of Analytical experience 
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Previous management consulting experience and experience working with or in Audit, Operational Risk, Compliance, or Business-facing Quality teams is a plus
  • Self-starter with proven track record of developing winning strategies and driving results through leading initiatives independently and reliably
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and report development skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to think at a high level
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and manage performance metrics effectively in order to drive business strategy and report results
  • Ability to think critically and work independently
  • Proficiency in MS Office, i.e. Excel and PowerPoint
