Finance Manager

Job Description

Located in Hong Kong, this position is responsible for supporting the financial planning and analysis for the global consumer portfolio in the Hong Kong and Taiwan markets.  This individual will interact with and support business leaders and their teams to ensure that financial and strategic objectives are achieved.  This individual will provide thought leadership on a variety of business initiatives, as well as support forecasting and results analysis. He or she will report directly into Director, Lead Finance Officer for Hong Kong and Taiwan.


In this role, you will:

  • Develop financial forecasts & plans that reflect latest business metrics, revenue and expense projections
  • Provide monthly results and variance analysis
  • Build strong relationships with HQ, regional and functional finance teams in a matrix organization
  • Support new opportunities for ongoing revenue productivity as well as re-engineering expenses execution to maximize profitability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Acquisition, Product and Marketing and finance teams of other lines of businesses
  • Develop competitive / market insights to validate business drivers and assumptions underlying company performance
  • Advise on financial and strategic direction on investments, prioritizing opportunities with the most attractive ROI and running sensitivities on key drivers and assumptions
  • Ensure bottom-line results are aligned with business strategy and long range plans
  • Keep abreast of the local credit card and payment processing industry in Greater China, while gaining expertise on the global business economics and financial drivers of the American Express business


To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • Overall financial acumen with 7+ years Finance experience
  • Finance/Accounting degree.  Professional qualifications, master or MBA equivalent preferred
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, plus excellent analytical / financial modeling skills and insightful strategic judgment
  • Must be able to influence and work effectively with multiple stakeholders at different levels across various functional areas/geographies
  • Creative approach to developing solutions to business problems
  • Demonstrated aptitude to consult & diagnose issues, problem solve, and implement plans to drive solutions
  • Self-motivated, driven and enthusiastic, with an ability to work independently from leader
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Comfort operating in a highly flexible, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment
  • Knowledge of card economic model, products, segmentation, key functions and payment industry competitive environment/ trends is advantageous
