Part of the American Express family, the Belgium Alpha Card Merchant Services team is the team which connects our valuable card holders with our highly valued merchants by making sure the coverage is expanding further each and every day.


The Account Support and Project analyst, under the leadership of the Head of Client Management team will support the Merchant Services team in the achievement of the business goals by handling a range of sales support activities. He/She will as well take on some selective admin and Project management challenges, supporting the GM head of Merchant Services BeLux and will collaborate with a variety of business partners across the local and European teams including sales, finance, risk, HR, compliance etc.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively support the client managers and work closely with the team leader, assisting them with their day-to-day activities.

  • Develop and produce presentations for both internal and external customer meeting use.

  • Leverage a wide range of different reports and data sources highlighting accounts’ business performance, which can be used both internally and externally at customer meetings.

  • Take ownership of metrics that drive business goals and objectives, through working with Client Managers and Business Partners to collate and present data.

  • Act as first point of contact for many types of enquiries from the team’s merchant customers.

  • Manage, or coordinate with relevant operation teams, existing Merchants set up changes such as owner changes, Merchants information changes and branch additions. Ensure when appropriate merchant’s hierarchies and data are clean and accurate within the American Express systems.

  • Act as a main contact point with merchant operations and servicing teams to engage with colleagues supporting BeLux accounts so to ensure that a good working relationship is maintained.

  • Reactively support the GM Head of Merchant Services BeLux, on some adhoc administrative and Project management tasks.

  • Coordinate information to help the team on a range of projects such as support on organizing trainings, team meetings, senior management visits, drafting and/or reviewing/translating Merchant Services related announcements and communications, review of various marketing related communication (internal and external) etc...

  • Own ad-hoc team projects where appropriate, e.g., KYC, 6050W, Net Promoter Score, etc.

  • Collaborate and work with EMEA counterparts and Client Management colleagues on specific business needs and in order to ensure global consistency on pan European accounts management.

Required skills:

  • The successful candidate has strong organizational, communication, and Project Management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is key.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data, being familiar in creating pivot tables and manipulating formula in Excel is essential.
  • Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication skills in French, Dutch and English; experience in creating material for wide range of audiences from senior level executive level through to employee communications. 
  • Knowledge or ability to learn quickly American Express Merchant Services data management tools such as - Genesis, GMAR (MARC), SMART, Merchant Force (Sales Force) is critical.
  • Be familiar in using, interpreting and manipulating data, and providing insights.
  • Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic, quick to learn, enjoys working within a challenging environment, used to work under tight deadlines and can handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a structured manner with good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player who can work effectively in a matrix environment. Friendly and approachable.
