Job Description

Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping American Express maximize its purchasing power. Category Manager’s role is to develop and grow relationships with the business partners to gain context, business unit knowledge, goals, issues and opportunities. Develop strategic forward-thinking category plan with multi-year value generating portfolio of sourcing initiatives to enable the business success.  This role will support all the GSM categories across the Latin America, Canada & Caribbean (LACC) region, with a strong collaboration with the GSM global and international teams
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Develop and grow strong relationships with the business partners across the LACC region to gain business unit knowledge, goals, issues and opportunities
 
  • Build strong relationships with market and regional leaders in LACC to Influence requirements, shape demand, advise business how to capture the most value from supplier relations
 
  • Develop strategic, forward thinking regional category plan with multi- year value generating portfolio of sourcing initiatives to enable the business success, in collaboration with GSM colleagues regionally and globally
 
  • Bring external insight, innovative ideas and an enterprise view on market/regional trends, competitive landscape value generation and strategic sourcing opportunities
 
  • Create a multi- year value plan and manage portfolio of initiatives within all the LACC Categories.
 
  • Develop and own negotiation plans in a “high risk” environment; execute negotiation process, driving commercial and legal terms and conditions thru the entire LACC and value opportunities, in partnership with Contract Management team
 
  • Build strong partnership with select strategic suppliers and manages them effectively across the LACC region
 
  • Developing a category review cycle to refresh strategy and ensure alignment with business partners on a regular basis
 
  • Monitor the regional total spend across the all the LACC business to leverage global/regional/market spend where applicable
 
  • Act as a point of contact for the LACC markets heads and strategic Business Partners
 
  • Ability to travel 10-20%

Requerimientos

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor of Science / Business Degree
  • Mandatory Full English language proficiency (Business)
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant business experience
  • Strong procurement/sourcing process knowledge
  • Strong Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams
  • Strong relationship management skills able to become a true business partner and a trusted advisor
  • Deep understanding of the market opportunities and the broader business issues – Across different markets, cultures business practices and a broad set of commodities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing, planning, presentation and motivation
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Ability to manage day-to-day business priorities along with long-term strategic deliverables
  • Passion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom line results
  • Strong communication skills a must
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change
  • Strong Procurement experience developing innovative solutions across different commodity categories.
