Senior Financial Analyst – DSCOE – AXP/Corp Seg (Enterprise Functions)
 
The Decision Support Center of Excellence (DSCOE) in Corporate Planning was established to centralize financial planning and analysis activities across American Express. This Senior Financial Analyst role will support financial planning, reporting and results analysis activities for Enterprise Functions within Corporate Segment.
 
The DSCOE – Enterprise Functions team provides finance support for Human Resources, Finance, Global Advertising, General Counsel’s Office and Other Staff Groups.  The team supports these groups by providing transparency into the results and analysis by leveraging evolving finance tools.
 
This position is focused on driving decision support and business analysis related to Opex Management. In addition, responsibilities include, understanding future impacts to the business, forming opinions and collaborating with LFO partners to reflect expectations and decisions in the forecast.  This Senior Financial Analyst position will also play an integral role in the team through executing critical needs in Financial Planning and Analysis, enhancing process efficiencies, and driving transformation.
 
 Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing the annual and long range plan and rolling outlook, in collaboration with CP&A and LFO teams
  • Support the month end close process, including Opex line item variance and trend analysis while determining any risks and opportunities
  • Drive improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of current processes
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and develop presentations in collaboration with LFO and DSCOE teams
  • Build, maintain and leverage relationships with LFO and CP&A teams
  • Support projects within the AXP/CORP SEGMENT DSCOE team as well the greater DSCOE organization and ensuring alignment with Finance Forward initiatives

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant working experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to break down complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages
  • Must be able to communicate financial results to non-finance colleagues
  • Ability to effectively interact, partner and collaborate with all levels in the organization and across Business Units. Must have a strong customer focus
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience in TM1 and Oracle a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under time pressure and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Highly motivated with strong sense of accountability, initiative and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree  (Business/Finance/Accounting)
