Job Description

This position is part of a team that manages the data sourcing activities for the Regulatory Reporting Delivery program within the Strategic Enablement & Governance (SEG) group. The primary responsibility for this role is to lead end-to-end data sourcing/management projects for multiple line of businesses at American Express. The job’s primary focus will include - but not limited to – analyzing downstream system/capabilities requirements, partnering and engaging with multiple upstream teams across geographies, leading the functional design by defining data management strategy and developing appropriate Source2Target mappings. The person will also be responsible for overviewing data profiling and identifying data patterns that provide more detailed scenarios for implementation data and reduce testing defects. They will be researching out of pattern items and data anomalies and working with functional resources on the team, upstream data providers and technologies to drive resolution of the anomalies. The incumbent will also manage a significant part of the team’s testing process by creating and managing test plans, creating testing procedures and test scripts, and executing testing to identify issues and driving resolution.


Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the end-to-end data ingestion and data sourcing projects from multiple heterogenous operational and transactional databases
  • Identify files/tables within SORs (Systems of Record) with the required data to satisfy business and data requirements
  • Obtains new data requirements from the business; and coordinates sourcing efforts with multiple stakeholders
  • Performs as data SME in guiding both business and IT users of dat
  • Performing data profiling to evaluate and compare data from different sources to draw conclusions on data mappings, data value transformations and data issues
  • Produce actionable business insights, such as strategic recommendations for data driven capabilities
  • Working with team members in execution of regular profiling activities, and driving evaluation and research of anomalies
  • Creating test plans, test scripts, and executing testing to analyze data and transformation issues, and driving resolution working with technology teams 
  • Communicating with Sourcing Functional Leads and Technology teams regarding data requirements, data mappings and data transformation rules to enhance sourcing solutions
  • Working within an Agile setting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, minor in Information/Data Management preferred
  • 5-8 years of work experience in Banking, in the regulatory/ risk reporting, Finance or Treasury areas with exposure to Data Warehousing, Data Management, and other data related projects
  • Strong knowledge of relational database concepts and data management concepts; advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Basic understanding of Big Data environments (unstructured, structured) and related technologies (e.g., ELT, Machine Learning).
  • Basic understanding of Agile methodology and delivery concepts
  • Candidate must have strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as strong relationship skills
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and drive change to further improve processes to be more efficient and effective
  • Demonstrated process thinking and must be detail oriented
  • Proven collaboration/relationship skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and dedicated to the delivery of high quality service to consistently exceeds customers’ expectations
