Job Description

The Internal Audit Group (IAG) is a worldwide function with approximately 200 team members and offices in 7 countries. IAG is comprised of assurance and risk professionals with diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting and banking operations. Additionally, over 75 percent of IAG team members hold at least one professional certification. The IAG organization consists of 14 audit teams aligned with the business units and staff groups along with a professional practice and quality assurance team and a reporting and regulator relations team.

  • Lead the development and execution of the department’s quality assurance and improvement program
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of the QA universe and reviews including: internal audits, risk assessments, business monitoring procedures, issue management corrective action plans, management and board committee reporting, as well as IAG operational QA reviews.
  • Oversee the tracking, monitoring, and end-to-end management of corrective action plans associated with QA reviews.
  • Support internal and external assessments of the Internal Audit function, including facilitating pre-planning and readiness reviews.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and best practices based on results of quality assurance reviews.
  • Partner with Audit Methodology and Professional Development team to design and deliver audit-related training program components to diverse groups of auditors with varying levels of experience based on QA results.
  • Provide reporting to management and board committees capturing QAIP plan activities and results.
  • Support regulatory exams, and present to regulators on the topic of IAG’s QAIP program, as needed.
  • Manage external benchmarking activities and maintain awareness of current, best-in-class internal audit practices.
  • Provide support to special projects led by the greater Professional Practices team or the Quality Assurance team, as needed.
  • People lead the team of quality assurance colleagues and effectively teach, coach, and develop team members, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in internal audit, assurance advisory, public accounting (financial services, banking/ capital markets industry experience, preferred)
  • College degree or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business administration, or equivalent,
  • Internal Audit, Assurance, or Accounting professional certification (CIA, CPA, CISA, CRCM or equivalent), required
  • Direct experience in quality assurance reviews related to Internal Audit.
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of IIA standards, regulatory, and financial industry guidance and best practices relevant to Internal Audit.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong project management experience.
  • Strong problem solving skills (issue identification, problem structuring, analysis, development of recommendations), including the ability to analyze results and data to create opportunities for improvement.
  • People leader experience, including a demonstrated ability to develop and lead team members.
