Job Description

Corporate Planning is responsible for analyzing internal results and forecasts across the company and providing key insights to the CFO and the leadership team. The candidate will join the AXP & Corporate Segment Decision Support Center of Excellence (DSCOE) Finance team within Corporate Planning, which is responsible for the execution and consolidation of the AXP monthly outlook.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing the company-wide monthly outlook, including the analysis and validation of quotes and Business Unit P&Ls;
  • Analyzing the business drivers of the monthly outlook and providing key findings to leadership;
  • Assessing balance of year investment and spending capacity levels;
  • Building and leveraging relationships across various teams to better understand risks and opportunities;
  • Performing ad-hoc analytics

 

In addition to gaining forecasting/planning skills, the Manager in this role will be exposed to a wide range of disciplines and experiences including: an understanding of the company’s various lines of business and their revenue drivers; insight into AXP senior leaders’ viewpoints on issues and opportunities facing the Company; and impacts of macro-economic factors on AXP’s business strategies. Additionally, the Manager will work with a broad network across the company, including the wider CP&A and DSCOE teams, Tax, Treasury, Risk, and Controllership.

 


Qualifications

  • Highly motivated individual with an ability to drive results and work with ambiguity
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze and interpret business and financial data and draw strategic conclusions
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple demands, driving results within critical deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to working in a team environment
  •  Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to break down complex ideas into understandable and actionable messages
  • Knowledge of card business model and economics preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint required; TM1 experience preferred
