Machine Learning Evangelist

Do you want to play a key role in transforming the commercial payments data team at Amex into a world class enterprise data engineering team? Do you enjoy thinking big while diving deep into the details of data science and machine learning? Are you ready to apply the transformative effect of data and technology to drive business results and improve customer experience?


We are looking for a Machine Learning Evangelist for the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Center of Excellence (AI & ML CoE) for Global Commercial Payments at American Express.  This person will be a subject matter expert in Machine Learning in a Big Data environment and work closely with other stakeholders for continuous delivery.


Your responsibilities will include collaborating with business leaders and partners to craft the product vision, drive the Product Roadmap and prioritize the ML Engineering team’s sprint backlog.


You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concepts involving AI/ML to deliver against the existing and future needs of our customers. The successful candidate will play a key role in the understanding of product owner strategy and collaborate with peers and technology partners to translate complex user stories into successful AI product releases. To be successful in the role, the following experience is required: 

  • Experience in Product Management with proven track record in defining winning product constructs and delivering a product vision and strategy.
  • At least 2+ years of progressive experience with a broad set of tech stacks, hands-on Machine Learning.  

Quantitative and Software Development Skills

·    Master of Science or higher in a quantitative discipline, e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences or similar Bachelor of Science with 5 years of experience in a highly quantitative position.

·    Working knowledge of the following technologies:

o   Spark

o   Python

o   Big Data

o   SQL

o   Scala / Java

o   Deep learning frameworks

·    Working knowledge of:

o   Linear models & descriptive statistics

o   Natural Language Processing

o   Bayesian Inference

o   Decision Tree Models & Boosting

o   Advanced time series forecasting 

o   Deep Learning
