Job Description

The commercial payment industry is dynamic with increasing competition from both established and new disruptive players. Commercial Payments Gateway (CPG) is a Global Product Development function within the GCS (Global Commercial Services) organization, focusing on driving the development of a single distribution and integration platform for all B2B (Business to Business) services. Leveraging AXP platforms as well as industry-leading Fintech capabilities, the team is developing an API catalog offering a suite of payments & value-added services, connecting B2B trade, data, and financial services in a single digital environment.  

The Director — Commercial API Payments Platform will be in charge of leading the development and implementation of an aggressive roadmap for B2B payment services and the required underlying capabilities. This Director will be responsible for evaluating the market landscape, rationalizing the business strategy into discrete capability requirements, defining design principles, and ultimately delivering a robust, API-first global B2B payment services platform that spans card and non-card payment solutions. The Director will lead a team of managers and will collaborate closely with Partner Integrations, 3rd party platform partners, Business Development and Engineering teams to iteratively deliver new capabilities while aligning platform development with the rest of the digital transformation agenda for the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a team of capability owners and associated scrum teams for the design, development and operation of the B2B payments platform
  • Lead a team of capability owners and associated scrum teams for the design and development of the B2B payments platform and our API service catalog
  • Develop capability roadmaps and platform scalability strategies & blueprints to support short and long term business priorities
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product teams and other key stakeholders to identify capabilities and efforts currently underway within the enterprise and consolidate relevant initiatives into a cohesive roadmap to accelerate speed to market while maximizing re-usability of existing assets
  • Evaluate the external landscape and work with Technology and Business Architecture teams to create flexible platform services that are fully aligned with business and partner use-cases and drive a competitive advantage for the business
  • Identify capabilities from 3rd party Fintech companies, and oversee development and integration to expose them as services through our platform 

Qualifications

  • Build and lead a team of capability owners and associated scrum teams for the design, development and operation of the B2B payments platform
  • 10+ years experience in Digital product development, product management or product innovation in an Agile environment
  • Experience delivering high-impact, complex products that span across organizations and involve multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in financial services and FinTech, ideally in the commercial space
  • Strong understanding of Global B2B payment ecosystems & frameworks across existing and emerging methods
  • Experience in API development
  • Familiarity with ERP Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes preferred
  • Strong ability to understand and design technology products and processes
  • Proven leadership experience, particularly leading teams through fast-paced evolution
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, change, and evolving priorities
  • Great translator; ability to speak the language of Tech and of Business teams, and communicate business requirements to technical teams and vice versa
  • Strong ownership and accountability for outcomes
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree preferred
