This exciting London based role is focused on growing merchant coverage and financial metrics via the Partner Management channels in UK and selected European markets.   Our Partners provide a great vehicle to grow American Express acceptance, particularly with the small merchant base through the use of innovative merchant recruitment, processing and servicing models. 


The Insights Analyst will be responsible for a range of projects linked to the management of partners, as well as acquisition and ongoing management of the merchant base. The position plays a critical support role in developing data tools and reporting capabilities to inform strategy and drive performance against our key objectives and priorities. The successful individual will need to be solution-orientated with the ability to link analyses with business objectives, challenge the status quo, and propel process improvements when necessary. The individual will need to collaborate with various teams across the organisation and external partners, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.


Roles and responsibilities to include:


  • To develop and maintain regular performance reporting and robust, yet efficient, forecasting tools.
  • Work on a range of analytical projects, such as merchant profiling, segmentation and opportunity analysis and work together to develop best practices across markets.
  • Support periodic campaign activities, compliance projects and on-boarding exercises.
  • Delivery of thought leadership and analytical insights to support strategic projects, business insights and ad hoc requests.
  • Manage the end-to-end process for invoicing our partners.
  • Tracking and forecasting for Operational Expenses and SQP.
  • Become a subject-matter expert surrounding American Express data and insights to support the team and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various teams across the organization including Acquisition, Finance, Strategic Planning & Development, and Marketing.
  • Present to senior leadership, across the team and stakeholders to communicate financial position and drive decision making.

Required skills:

  • Outstanding quantitative and financial management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present complex data.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, deliver results and manage multiple tasks without compromising quality.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity while working in a matrix environment.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools like SAS, SQL, Tableau, VBA, etc. would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of statistical modelling techniques such as regression, time-series modelling, time-to-event analysis, and classification/clustering techniques would be beneficial.
  • Strong experience developing, executing and managing reporting processes.
  • Ability to manage and leverage relationships effectively.
  • University Degree, or higher, in numerate subject preferred.
