Job Description

Global Merchant Services (GMS) is the merchant acquirer, processor and marketing partner for the millions of merchants around the world who accept American Express Cards.
The incumbent is part of the Global Merchant Services Strategy, Planning and Development organization, and will support the Client Management teams in the Americas. This position will be responsible for performing analytical deep dives to help Client Managers understand merchant performance and underlying issues.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead a high performing team to drive performance management efforts, build and leverage strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners to evolve Client Management reporting and to develop new and insightful analysis.
Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with key business partners throughout GMS (e.g. Regional GMs, Client Management SVPs/VPs, Pricing, and Finance) to create target Strategy framework and KPI targets.
  • Manage the annual account segmentation and target setting process for all markets and merchants across Americas, working with key stakeholders and leaders in Client Management and GS&C.
  • Manage the GMS Americas Client Management scorecard process.
  • Undertake in-depth analysis of key business performance metrics, highlighting trends and identifying implications and opportunities for the business.
  • Proactively consult with Client Management to develop strategies, measurement and analysis methodologies and applications to evaluate the effectiveness of new strategies and tactics to address key business needs.
  • Partner and align with various teams including other Regional Planning & Reporting Teams, Finance, Pricing and other GMS teams to ensure consistency.
  • Support annual processes such as forecasting, planning, target setting and scorecard processes.
  • Assist in the evaluation of current reporting, identifying opportunities to drive automation, eliminate redundancies and address reporting gaps.


  • Highly motivated individual with excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and bold, work independently and challenge the status quo.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and understand complex processes, provide meaningful insights and deliver relevant analyses across complex and dynamic business.
  • Programming expertise using SQL, SAS and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills with customer centric focused.
  • Tableau dashboard development experience a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
