Function Description and Purpose of the Role

The Finance Director will play a critical role in decision support, financial planning, investment optimization, results tracking, as well as coaching & mentoring the Finance India team.

Key Responsibilities
• Partner with India CET to drive growth and profitability across all American Express businesses in India
• Business Decision Support: Partner with the various GMs and other key constituents across the Blue Box organization (e.g. Business Development, Product Management, Marketing, Acquisitions, Risk Management, Controllership). Provide senior management with timely finance-related analysis and recommendations across a range of critical business decisions
• Provide comprehensive finance support on all planning aspects like forecast, long range planning, and investment optimization
• Work in partnership with Central Finance teams in London & NY, and leverage the central reporting and planning processes
• Results Tracking & Reporting: Provide detailed analysis and supporting commentary on actuals vs. budget variances. Examine monthly results and P&L outcomes and further communicate business performance and inform senior management.
• Prepare market reviews for senior management
• Support Regulatory and Legal Entity requirements:
o Coordinate finance activities across different business units in Blue Box and with other Finance constituents (Controllership, Treasury, Tax, Audit, etc.,) to develop and maintain budget and quarterly forecast on legal entity basis, Support the ICAAP by developing LRP for the legal entity
o Financial review with the AEBC Board and Audit Committee
o Establish sound financial governance practices, including developing policies and procedures to manage and monitor financial risks across the Bank
o Primary contact for regulatory inquiries (RBI/ NYSDFS) related to Bank’s P&L and Balance Sheet and voting member of multiple bank committees such as ALCO

Qualifications

Qualifications & Academic Background
• At least 10 years of work experience in Finance decision support/ FP&A or equivalent role .
• Chartered Accountant, MBA or equivalent professional experience
Functional Skills/Capabilities
• In-depth understanding of Amex businesses
• Strong working knowledge of credit risk
• Working knowledge of banking regulations e.g. capital, funding, investments
• Excellent analytical skills with proven ability to prepare investment analysis
• Project management skills
Knowledge of Platforms
• Knowledge of accounting processes and systems (TM1, Oracle, etc.,)
• Data analytics platforms like Cornerstone and visualization tools like Tableau
Behavior Skills/Capabilities
• Strong executive presence and communication skills, both written and oral; ability to interact with and build consensus across multiple levels of the organization
• Strong followership and people leadership experience with demonstrated success in identifying, developing and retaining top talent
• Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams and understand key business issues and concerns from multiple perspectives
