Job Description

Global Commercial Services (GCS) represents a significant long-term growth opportunity for American Express providing a range of Corporate Card Programs, Payments Solutions and other expense management tools to help mid-size companies and large corporations around the world manage all facets of their business spending.
As part of the Implementation & Business Solutions Organization, the Business Solutions Manager position contributes to the strategy of our product evolution and go-to-market plan, while executing & supporting sales and account development initiatives to drive the success of Global Commercial Services within the Canadian market. This individual will require strong consultation, problem solving and influential skills coupled with excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
This position is responsible for:
•Working closely with the GCS Leadership team, sales and account development teams to ensure our payment solutions vision is well positioned and is being effectively sold into the Canadian market place
•Assisting sales and account development in assessing client needs and identifying the best approach and positioning of our payment solutions to help drive a differentiated value proposition, accelerate growth and deepen customer relationships.
•Leveraging knowledge of industry wide and market specific client needs to contribute to the identification and design of product features and solutions to create a strongly differentiated offering
•Utilizing every customer meeting (as appropriate) to strengthen and deepen the client's relationship with Amex by identifying opportunities to increase share of wallet
•Understanding the competitive landscape by identifying industry best practices, reports and white papers to support B2B positioning and sales initiatives to help drive differentiated value proposition
•Consultation, presentation and demonstration of Amex Technology solutions in strategic sales opportunities or client expansion opportunities
•Conducting spend analytics on client’s files to identify and present strategies to capture share of wallet and client operational efficiencies
•Develop detailed Point of Delivery/Point of Arrival process maps of client procurement/reconciliation processes and translate findings into executable business solutions
•Consult on reconciliation solutions or new data integration needs
•Designing winning payment solutions that enable our clients to implement and transact quickly and efficiently


•Bilingual in English and French is a mandatory requirement
•Either strong knowledge of Global Commercial Payments products or, 3+ years industry / B2B related experience highly favorable
•B.S in business or relevant experience with alternate degree
•Strong knowledge of the procure to pay landscape and related processes
•Technical knowledge of procurement solutions and ERP and financial systems
•Finance and accounting experience and understanding
•Proven sales skills, both relationship management and acquisition
•Innovative manager with strategic mindset
•Ability to manage multiple complex projects and to develop strategic forward-moving priorities
•Strong collaborative skills and the ability to use influence, and negotiation skills
•Ability to build strong relationships with Sales and Account Managers
•Ability to identify improvement opportunities and orchestrate change without direct authority
•Proven consultative aptitude and the ability to convert client business processes/requirements into innovative solutions
•Track record of translating organizational objectives into clear actionable steps that lead to impact results
•Strong project management disciplines
•Strong presentation and communication/verbal skills – can translate concepts into actions
•A high level working knowledge of MS Office in addition to strong Excel skills
