Job Description

American Express Travel Related Services seeks a Senior Engineer to serve as part of the application development team, directly supporting the Loyalty Platform. We are looking for an innovative, experienced, and talented software engineer who will work closely with business unit and development team to develop new system capabilities as defined within the technical/ functional specifications. Responsible for leading projects, designing system solutions, developing custom applications and modifying existing applications to meet distinct and changing business requirements. Handle coding, debugging, and documentation, as well as support the QA group in developing test plans and test scripts. Provide post implementation and ongoing production support.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Serve as a core member of an engineering team to develop digital and automated solutions for our customers.  Develop and design software applications, translating user needs into systems architecture.  Assess and validate application performance and integration of component systems and provide process flow diagrams. Test the engineering resilience of software and automation tools.  Assess and incorporate user story analysis and elaboration to optimize software solution. Apply visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts. Reengineer systems and code for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will partner with us in the creation of a new team, its methodologies and best practices, and most importantly, its culture. They will also be responsible for providing core system design, evaluating and proving platform components, and delivering working prototypes and frameworks for delivery teams to build upon.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field, and 2 years of software design, development, testing, and implementation experience. 
  • Experience must include a minimum of: 3 years with Agile, Java, J2EE, object-oriented programming, golang, REST API, SOAP based Web Services, JQuery, CSS, JSP, Servlet, Spring framework, Couchbase, DB2, IBM Websphere, Cloud Native Development, Openshift, Linux
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and exploit them to their optimal potential.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and container-based deployments is a plus.
  • Experience in interpreting technical and business objectives and challenges, and articulating solutions to customers
