American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the Global leader in the Commercial Payments Solutions space and continues to be an exciting and fast growing business, especially in the area of B2B payments solutions. To maintain success, accelerating sales and driving profitable charge volume growth are essential for the organization. The Global Data Strategy and Insights (DS&I) team, within GCS, is instrumental in ensuring achievement of these objectives.
 
The Director of US DS&I will develop and manage a team of two Managers that will support the newly formed US Supplier Payments Acceleration (“SPA”) organization by measuring and improving performance towards aggressive B2B volume targets over the next five years. This team will create and maintain KPI reporting, monitor performance trends and analyze the deal pipeline. After results reporting has been operationalized the individual will also be responsible for driving insightful, actionable and sustainable business solutions to achieve profitable charge volume growth and deepen client entrenchment. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with SPA leadership to identify opportunities to refine strategy through data-driven insights
  • Establish reporting framework for SPA-supported deals, serving as the central contact point for SPA-related performance
  • Create and manage SPA scorecards to track performance to targets
  • Collaborate with business partners outside of DS&I ad SPA to garner feedback to guide and enhance analysis
  • Drive thought leadership on highly strategic business initiatives and create growth opportunities with innovative and breakthrough thinking

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated people leadership and development experience
  • Expertise in advanced Excel techniques and Power Point required
  • Basic understanding of SAS and SQL is preferred
  • Familiarity with salesforce.com a plus
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree or equivalent preferred
 Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to research and drive initiatives independently with a strong sense of discipline and responsibility
  • Ability to build and retain strong working relationships with business partners
  • Ability to communicate findings and methodology with senior level executives and team members with confidence and conviction
  • Ability to conceptualize complex, abstract ideas into solid, tangible representations through reasoning, mathematics and statistics
  • Proven ability to learn skills and knowledge on demand in a compressed timeline
  • Comfort working independently and handling uncertainty when exploring data to uncover insights
  • Solid project management skills
  • Willingness and ability to teach and educate other colleagues and business partners
  • Sound knowledge of B2B payments strongly preferred
