American Express does business with thousands of third parties and buys billions of dollars of goods and services each year. Global Supply Management (GSM) ensures that the right processes and controls are in place to manage the full source-to-pay lifecycle and maintain proper oversight of third-party relationships. The Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SSBE) team within GSM provides strategic consultation, negotiation and contract delivery to maximize the purchasing power of the third-party spend and to free up investment capacity through deeper partnerships with our BUs. It is a fast-paced, strategic team that drives initiatives at the forefront of transformational change. SSBE is also responsible for managing supplier strategy with our business partners, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation (e.g. working with GCS - Global Corporate Services and GMNS - Global Merchant and Network Services to drive B2B spend), and best user experience for AMEX colleagues and suppliers.
 
The Manager Assistant will be a direct report of the VP, SSBE and will work closely with them as they lead SSBE, a 150+ global organization with colleagues across ~10 countries. The Manager Assistant is responsible for a broad range of activities including strategic, analytics, communications and human capital initiatives to ensure that the overall organization is successful and that business objectives are met. The Manager Assistant is a critical member of the SSBE leadership team, working closely with them, their teams and key business partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Balance the management of day-to-day business priorities with long-term strategic deliverables
  • Facilitate the creation and execution of the team’s strategies, processes, initiatives, goals, roadmaps and success metrics
  • Manage and provide strategic insight into multiple project work streams
  • Plan leadership team meetings and strategic planning sessions
  • Manage strategy and oversight of internal and external communications
  • Develop robust presentations for key internal and external executive meetings
  • Drive year-end process and talent planning, oversee organizational design and partner with HR on other human capital initiatives
  • Partner with Finance on financial planning and management
  • Drive special business critical projects
