Job Description

The Marketing Technology Strategy team is an exciting new team that’s being created to act as the starting point for commercial marketing’s technology and data strategy. It sits within the Marketing Strategy & Planning group. This team will have a central remit to deliver technology to enable big bets and new ideas. In addition, the Marketing Technology Strategy team will be involved in annual planning, capacity planning and impact measurement for GCSM technology work.


Key Responsibilities:

This position will work closely with cross functional partners across American Express & externally to set and deliver a 3-5 year visionary and transformational technology roadmap.  This strategy will be focused on delivering a unified member experience, will be informed by the GCSM brand strategy and will be influenced by external trends and capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and articulate the GCSM vision and roadmap for data and marketing technologies.
  • Partner within GCSM marketing and across a variety of teams such as Marketing Platforms, Enterprise Digital Analytics, and American Express Technologies.
  • Ensure delivery of 1-2 transformational big bet initiatives within a given year (ex: Content Distribution, Lead Generation Innovation).   



  • 5-10 years relevant experience creating marketing & technology strategies
  • Strong analytic and data acumen
  • Excellent relationship builder who can work across a large group of stakeholders located across the globe to build strong and effective business relationships
  • Highly effective communication skills (written & oral).  Ability to simplify and clearly communicate complex messages to influence & set direction for the team.
  • Consistent, customer-first mentality
