Manager / Senior Manager, Cross-functional Process Excellence

The Manager/Sr. Manager role will be responsible for improving process coordination between Credit & Fraud Risk and other business units and will report to the Director, Cross-functional Process Excellence.   The primary focus will be on Adverse Action Communications processes (working closely with the Credit Risk, Decision Science, and Credit and Fraud Risk Capabilities teams, and partnering closely with Global Services Group), optimization of decision and model reason code usage, and designing corresponding capabilities.  Over time the focus of this team could expand to other risk processes.  This position will be part of the Operational Risk & Process Excellence team within Credit & Fraud Risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously enhance policies, processes, and controls for mitigating operational risk exposure from adverse action communications, in partnership with GSG, Compliance, Credit Risk, and Decision Science

  • Define business requirements, and partner with Credit and Fraud Risk Capabilities to design flexible next-generation capabilities to consolidate model and decision reason codes into a single repository
  • Partner with Decision Science and Credit Risk Strategy teams to simplify and rationalize the inventory of existing Adverse Action Reason Codes
  • Define business requirements, and partner with key stakeholders to create balancing controls across (1) the number of adverse action decisions, (2) the number of adverse actions processed, (3) requests passed on to GSG, and (4) volume of letters sent
  • Partner with the Credit and Fraud Risk Capabilities team to create best in class MIS and reporting for adverse action communications
  • Maintain an effective control environment and respond to operational breakdowns with discipline

 



Qualifications


  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD, or MBA) in a quantitative field such as Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or Computer Science

  • Advanced degree is preferred but not required given a suitable combination of formal education and work experience

  • Detailed understanding of credit risk, decision science, and/or customer communication systems and capabilities is preferred

  • Ability to think strategically and apply both quantitative methods and business insights to drive results

  • Blend of analytical skills, process expertise, project management, and relationship-building skills

  • Thought leadership and solution-oriented mindset

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines

  • Ability to build strong relationships in a cross-functional environment

  • Clear, effective written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to handle large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, Python or another similar programming language
