Site Reliability Engineer
Don’t just have a great idea, build it.
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) you will be responsible for maintaining availability of the platform.
You will guard the platform against degrading performance and work collaboratively with engineers across multiple teams and systems team to build a sustainable , scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant system.
You will also proactively monitor systems using enterprise/platform adapted monitoring tools, and respond to incidents (as needed).
You will also be responsible for ensuring any production deployable code has all the necessary Alerts , necessary logging needed to debugging and work with operations to update runbook.
You will be working with multiple teams to identify areas of improvement within the platform and build a solution to automate monitoring solutions for the next generation platform, technology and constant innovations to drive efficiencies.
You will be responsible for implementing tracing, monitoring, tooling solutions to maximise the performance and availability of our Web applications.
You will have an Agile mindset, strong DevOps alignment, and a will to continuously improve, both the platform and our ways of working.
You will be proactive in recognising impediments to our continued improvement and contributing / developing to solutions to these problems.
Your ultimate goal will be to strive to make BIP the best platform it can be, helping the train to maximise its capacity to develop new and exciting features to our customers.

Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent significant work experience in DevOps Java.
Good understanding of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Openshift.
Experience with Rest APIs, API Integration, and UI and batch processing.
Hands on experience on enterprise tools set such as Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics etc.
Good understanding of network topologies, load balancer configurations.
Good understanding and experience of the Buyer Initiated Payments platform – with knowledge of the end to end payments journey in American Express.
Experience of building high quality CI/CD pipelines.
