Job Description

The Sr. Manager Sales/Business Development position is in the Global Commercial Services Middle Market Field organization.  It is a growing organization responsible for the acquisition, expansion, retention and management of high potential and high spending clients. This position is responsible for the overall management (growth/expansion, customer satisfaction, and retention) of a defined portfolio of high spending Clients. Managers will be measured on portfolio spend growth, the retention of Clients/spend level and further expansion. 

  • Responsible for driving retention and expansion growth across portfolio of Middle Market clients in Central/Southern New Jersey.
  • Realize pipeline opportunities, networking in-market, and owning key portfolio strategies that will yield top line growth for American Express Global Commercial Services
  • Conduct Client Visits regularly
  • Utilize consultative selling/negotiation skills to identify Client needs
  • Fully penetrate existing and uncover new opportunities
  • Develop a long-term strategy for each Client
  • Resolve client concerns and issues through appropriate solutions
  • Partner with a sales support resource to better serve Client needs

Qualifications

  • Analyze and digest information quickly and make critical recommendations and/or decisions
  • Prioritize efforts across portfolio of value clients and collaborate with Director and VP
  • Deal with objections and deliver key messages
  • Have a growth mindset with the ability to embrace challenges, take risks and learn from mistakes
  • Excellent Sales Skills, 5-7 years minimum
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong consultative sales skills including negotiation, influencing and collaboration skills, and a proven ability to close the sale
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Executive presence
  • Effective pipeline management skills
  • Ability to develop a daily, weekly and monthly call plan
  • Relationship management skills to follow through and motivate clients to take action
  • Strong business and financial acumen, understanding of business financials and ability to create a financial business case
  • Ability to partner with clients across all markets/industries
  • Strong computer skills, experience with SalesForce.com a plus
