American Express is embarking on a journey to drive agile marketing solutions and enabling innovative, high-quality marketing for the enterprise. You’ll be challenged every day as we transform our organization to meet the customers of tomorrow as part of Enterprise Marketing Products & Solutions (EMPS), a global organization that sits within Enterprise Digital & Analytics (EDA) and is American Express’ marketing services center of excellence.  Our organization is focused on building out solutions to enable agile marketing that will deliver innovative, high-quality experiences for the enterprise, while also transforming our end-to-end marketing processes and products. 

This position is part of a newly formed portfolio management team that is focused on evolving our existing planning and prioritization processes for product/platform development efforts and to ensure that we are focused on the right set of initiatives for the company and those that deliver tangible, impactful outcomes for our customers. 

This is a highly visible position and will allow the right candidate to get exposure to a variety of teams who are leading strategic and innovative work for the Company.  He/she will sit on various enterprise and local planning forums, as a representative to our broader portfolio, and will have responsibility and oversight for our intake and assessment efforts. 

Some of the key responsibilities for the position are:

  • Intake and Assessment:  This candidate will act as a single point of contact for cross functional projects and will represent the marketing portfolio with the goal to assess new initiatives and uncover where/and how they may have an impact to our product and operational teams.  These forums are comprised of leaders from various levels of the organization, so this person should be comfortable being an active participant in meetings where various levels of leadership are present. 

  • Solution Management:   This person will need to support the initial solution management efforts with the goal to provide an early assessment of product and operational impacts, and any known risks or dependencies to deliver. 


  • Capacity Management:  This candidate will need to be well informed of our product delivery roadmap with the goal to be help raise considerations for timing in the event there are capacity and resource constraints to support.

  • Leadership Communications:  this person will also be required to design and operationalize several different management dashboards which will be used to provide a complete picture of initiatives impacting our marketing technology products along with initiative spotlight reporting for high profile initiatives where required.  To ensure these management reports are kept up to speed, this candidate will lead a variety of product team forums to ensure we are able to accurately capture and report progress and/or highlight key risks or dependencies to launch.




To be successful in this role, this candidate will need to demonstrate the following competencies:


  1. Have the ability to quickly grasp platform technology architecture and have a fairly detailed understanding around how various products work together to deliver a customer facing experience.

  2. Demonstrate strong project management skills and have the ability to work across numerous projects simultaneously.

  3. Enjoy the value process and operational efficiencies bring to organizations, and ultimately customers, and have the ability to quickly identify where/how initiatives may impact existing processes either negatively or in a positive way

  4. Proven success working with limited supervision with the ability to know when to independently action vs. escalate or involve leadership. 

  5. Ability to successfully navigate through challenging circumstances as they arise and stay calm under pressure

  6. Demonstrate strong personal excellence, with a team player approach to work.  Demonstrating an enterprise-first mentality.

  7. Showcase strong written and oral communication skills and have the ability to create impactful and high quality documentation that will be used for the purpose of enabling quick decision making to support our agile processes
