We’ve also made a difference in the lives of our people, providing a culture of learning and collaboration, and helping them with what they need to succeed and thrive. We have their backs as they grow their skills, conquer new challenges, or even take time to spend with their family or community. And when they’re ready to take on a new career path, we’re right there with them, giving them the guidance and momentum into the best future they envision.

Because we believe that the best way to back our customers is to back our people.

American Express is embarking on an exciting transformation driven by an energetic new team of high performers. If you have the talent and desire to deliver innovative payment products and services at a rapid pace, serving our customers seamlessly across physical, digital, mobile, and social media, join our transformation team! Epic Software Engineer wanted to partner with the Loyalty Technology team in a bid to change the game.
We are looking for:
  • An innovative, experienced, and talented software engineer to help force disruption in an outdated software environment and accelerate its pace of change.

  • Our team is focused on innovating from the ground up.

  • We are introducing domain specific micro-service-based architectures using docker and other container technologies.

Do you dream about building a system where a JavaScript client makes a JSON call to a cloud hosted, RESTFul Java micro-service connected to a NoSQL database that scales easily because it’s been Dockerized? Well if so, you can get paid to do it here. You will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team responsible for delivering world-class card member experiences. You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concept to deliver against the existing and future needs of our customers. A successful candidate will want to be part of something that is bigger than small-shop software. Enterprise level software engineering can be sometimes frustrating, but our aim is to also make it incredibly rewarding.

  • This role will be an expert or "go to guy" for the architecture, design, and engineering of solutions and components that span a newly expanded American Express software landscape.

  • The successful candidate will partner in the creation of a new culture at Amex.

  • They will also be responsible for providing core system design, evaluating and proving platform components, and delivering working prototypes and frameworks for delivery teams to build upon. These components are required to have a high-performance service interface (RESTAPI) capable of scaling to extremely high transaction rates. This will require developing highly scalable components in a distributed environment. Our goal is to use open source frameworks where applicable to build an industry leading, API-enabled system.
