Manager, Data Strategy and Insights – Supplier Payments

 

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the Global leader in the Commercial Payments Solutions space and continues to be an exciting and fast growing business, especially in the area of B2B payments solutions. To maintain success, accelerating sales and driving profitable charge volume growth are essential for the organization. The Global Data Strategy and Insights (DS&I) team, within GCS, is instrumental in ensuring achievement of these objectives.

 

This manager will be focused on supporting a holistic view of supplier payments, including forecasting, performance reporting, and deal pipeline evaluation.  This individual will be a key partner for the Finance, Account Development, and Sales organizations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance reporting framework for supplier payments, to enable a clear view of performance in the vertical
  • Partner with Sales & Account Development to support year-ahead planning and goal setting
  • Collaborate with business partners to garner feedback to guide analysis
  • Drive thought leadership on highly strategic business initiatives and create growth opportunities with innovative and breakthrough thinking

Qualifications

 Requirements:

  • Expertise in advanced Excel techniques and Power Point required
  • Experience with the payments industry, ideally with a focus on B2B payments
  • Basic understanding of SAS and SQL is preferred
  • Familiarity with salesforce.com a plus
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree or equivalent preferred

 Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Ability to research and drive initiatives independently with a strong sense of discipline and responsibility
  • Ability to build and retain strong working relationships with business partners
  • Ability to communicate findings and methodology with senior level executives and team members with confidence and conviction
  • Ability to conceptualize complex, abstract ideas into solid, tangible representations through reasoning, mathematics and statistics
  • Solid project management skills
  • Willingness and ability to teach and educate other colleagues and business partners
  • Sound knowledge of AXP business framework, and GCS background preferred
  • Proven ability to learn skills and knowledge on demand in a compressed timeline. Comfort working independently and handling uncertainty when exploring data to uncover insights
