The Merchant Services – U.S. (MS – U.S.) organization’s charter is to be essential to our Merchants through meaningful value and experiences that help them succeed. The broader Industry Development team within MS –U.S. supports this mission by creating value-add strategies, insights, tools, and touchpoints, including trade partnerships and platforms.

 

Within Industry Development, the Trade Development team is focused on building partnerships with trade and industry associations across various sectors, including retail, restaurant, luxury, travel, everyday spend, and B2B services. These partnerships and related event sponsorships offer platforms to highlight American Express’s brand, demonstrate our thought leadership in and support for a given industry, and strengthen our Merchant relationships. We drive American Express presence at 50+ industry events, conferences, and trade shows each year, and focus on creating memorable and impactful experiential footprints that drive engagement both with industries-at-large and the Merchants within them.

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Analyst to support the development, implementation, and execution of partnerships across key industries. He/she will play an important part in helping define event strategy, contributing creative ideas, and supporting onsite needs. This role will provide experience developing programs and activations that drive business value in close collaboration with both internal partners (Client Management, Finance, Brand, Marketing, PR, GCO) and external partners (trade organizations, creative/event agencies). Travel is required (15%).

 

This Analyst role reports into the Director, Trade Development & Training, and supports two Senior Managers across industry verticals.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure flawless execution of events, sponsorships, and initiatives by supporting the team on:

  • Developing and tracking project plans

  • Communicating with internal and external partners

  • Managing event registrations and ticket access

  • Developing marketing assets and coordinating approvals

  • Coordinating attendee gifting logistics

  • Preparing senior leadership for events and speaking opportunities

  • Collecting and evaluating post-event feedback from internal event attendees

  • Developing post-event recaps and event success measurement

  • Manage team financials: budget, invoicing, and accruals

  • Maintain comprehensive calendar of 50+ trade events and related details

  • Travel to select events to support onsite execution and nurture partnerships             

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1-3+ years of agency- or client-side work experience in partner management, sponsorships, experiential marketing, event management, or related focus

  • Strong project management skills and organization, with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with proven success working with internal partners, external partners, and/or agencies

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects across different stakeholders with minimal direction

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement creative solutions to business problems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong Powerpoint and Excel skills a plus

  • Knowledge of industry groups and trade shows a plus

  • Must have a positive attitude, will to win, and be flexible/adaptable to change

  • Ability to travel (15%)
