Global Network Operations (GNO) is responsible for running American Express’ core transaction processing platforms, defining the rules and regulations for how members of our network will interoperate with each other, and creating network products and capabilities that will help unlock commerce for the company. Today, the global breadth of this team enables it to serve issuers and acquirers in over 90 markets, authorizing and settling nearly $1T of charge volume annually.


The Software Product Owner role is an opportunity for a motivated high performer to become part of this rapidly evolving and growing business area with a specific focus on the utilization of Tokenisation to support the delivery of digital products. The Software Product Owner will report into the Director of Digital Network Platform and Product Delivery, partnering with a Technologies scrum team to deliver business priorities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Software Product Owner owning the delivery of critical capabilities

  • Work with other product owners, deployment teams and technologies to ensure product vision is met

  • Act as the subject matter expert and go-to person for Payment Tokenisation within Amex

  • Utilize agile tools and techniques to drive successful delivery: writing user stories, attending ceremonies, leading PI planning, etc.

  • Provide consultancy to business partners to ensure that processes, capabilities and platforms are utilized appropriately

  • Partner with Product Teams to understand capabilities to prioritise and document into a backlog with clearly defined features and user stories

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable expertise in Card Security and specifically EMVCo Payment Tokenisation specifications

  • Strong working knowledge of American Express digital products

  • Must have prior experience in a software product owner role

  • Proven experience in Agile Scrum and SAFE framework

  • Very strong analytical skills with proven ability to drive output aimed at developing insights and recommendations for senior management decisions

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences across Business and Technical teams

  • Self-starter able to work independently, with exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands and ambiguity

  • Ability to employ strategic thinking and develop capabilities that can be re-used

  • Experience driving results and collaborating in a cross-functional and global environment

  • Flexibility in supporting various time zones, as role supports global initiatives
